Registry problem during installation

Postby pjensen » Wed Dec 15, 2010 12:31 pm

I have a new ClearQuest server that has Windows 2008 on it, and I installed ClearQuest V7.1.2. I am trying to install the Email_Notification package and get this error:

!%$ Registration of package failed...CRMCU0056E Failed to write to registry: "So
ftware\Rational Software\ClearQuest Packages\UDBProperties\1.0\DataPath", name:
"DataPath", value: "D:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\RationalSDLC\ClearQuest\packages\
UDBProperties\1.0". Please make sure that you have correct privileges on the mac
hine.
Package registration error...

This occurs after inflating the Email_Notification and UDBProerties files.

I have admin rights on the server. I had my IT person login and try to install the package and he gets the same problem. Anyone know what the issue is?

I was able to resolve the problem. My old server had Windows 2003 on it, and my new server has Windows 2008 on it. The issue was related to the User Account Control setting on Windows 2008. This needs to be turned off.

Go to Control Panel --> User Accounts --> "Tune User Account Control on or off". Turn off "Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer", and restart the computer. Run "install.bat" again and it worked.
